“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

- Matthew 25:40

Luke's extraordinary journey extends beyond professional pursuits as he embraces his passion for pastoral care. As an ordained minister through the Universal Life Church, he has dedicated himself to serving others, channelling his spirituality and compassion. Luke's formal spiritual odyssey began with his membership at the Albert Park Baptist Church, where he found solace and community. This expansion of his faith was built upon the guidance of The Very Reverend Father Cary Mansell in the Anglican Church and his role as an assistant sacristan, where he experienced a profound voluntary baptism in 2005 that fortified his faith. Driven by his commitment to youth development, Luke volunteered at Albert Park Baptist Church's youth program, nurturing the next generation with kindness and guidance, assisting and directing individuals to embrace theology, philosophy, and the positive effects of a Christian worldview. In his efforts, Luke managed to steer a previously expelled student who had lost all academic interest into university studies, reiterating his belief in having a positive impact. In his unwavering dedication to making a difference, Luke also lent his support to Helping Hoops North Melbourne Campus, providing a beacon of hope for refugees through the power of Basketball on an ongoing basis each Friday evening for six months. Furthermore, he selflessly shared his expertise by conducting free personal training group workshops on Saturday mornings at Praxis Athletic and Moran Reserve Elwood, empowering individuals to achieve their fitness goals while fostering community and camaraderie, free of charge. These sessions grew to fifteen individuals receiving free group fitness under Luke's guidance. Luke's heartfelt contributions to pastoral care resonate deeply with those he touches, exemplifying the essence of his altruistic spirit. This includes his affiliation with, and Chrismation in, The Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia under the wise guidance of trained pharmacist turned priest, Father Kyrillos.

Recognising the significance of spiritual growth and connection, Luke sought solace within the Orthodox tradition, deepening his understanding of faith and embracing the church's teachings. As a member of The Orthodox Archdiocese, Luke found a profound sense of belonging and enlightenment, expanding his spiritual horizons as he attended and engaged in their philosophy/theology fellowship each week on Tuesdays. Through this sacred connection, Luke's dedication to pastoral care was further enriched, propelling him to touch the lives of others with compassion, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to the greater good. His journey as an ordained minister and involvement in various faith communities exemplify found devotion to nurturing the spiritual well-being of those he encounters. Luke's integration of diverse spiritual experiences amplifies the breadth and depth of his pastoral care endeavours, forging a path illuminated by faith, compassion, and the timeless pursuit of spiritual enlightenment. Luke's journey through various Christian denominations, including Anglicanism (St. Michael's Grammar School), Catholicism (Warrnambool Parish), Pentecostalism (Monash Christian Church & Urban Praise Ministry), Evangelicalism & The Charismatic Movement (Bridge/Neuma Church), and Orthodoxy, has shaped a unique and multifaceted perspective on his faith. Each denomination has contributed valuable insights and experiences that have enriched Luke's understanding of Christianity. From the liturgical beauty and reverence of Anglicanism to the sacramental traditions of Catholicism, Luke has found spiritual nourishment in different worship styles and theological emphases. His time in Pentecostal and Evangelical communities has fostered a deep appreciation for passionate worship, personal faith experiences, and a focus on the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. Embracing the Orthodox tradition has provided Luke with a profound sense of historical continuity, reverence for the early Church fathers, and a rich sacramental and mystical spirituality. Through this diverse journey, Luke has come to see the unity within the diversity of Christian traditions and has developed a compassionate and holistic perspective that seeks to celebrate and learn from the various expressions of faith.

This unique Christian perspective has inspired Luke to engage in dialogue, bridge gaps, and cultivate a deep love for God and others, transcending denominational boundaries and fostering a spirit of unity and understanding. Luke's interactions have been marked by a profound curiosity and a deep desire to understand and engage with diverse faith communities. From his interactions with the Somalian Muslim community, he gained a unique insight into the richness of Islamic culture and the values that underpin their way of life. Luke also immersed himself in the vibrant Jewish community, forging connections in Balaclava and Caulfield, where he learned about Judaism's rich traditions and history. Additionally, Luke's encounters with the Hari Krishna community in Albert Park gave him a glimpse into the spiritual practices and philosophies that shape their way of life. Luke has actively engaged in seminars by Buddhist monks in Mount Waverley, exploring the intersections of faith, reason, science, and medicine. These experiences have given him unique insights into mindfulness, compassion, and the interconnectedness of all beings.

Throughout Melbourne, Luke actively sought opportunities to connect with various faith communities, engaging in meaningful conversations and fostering mutual respect and understanding. These experiences have broadened Luke's perspective on spirituality, deepened his appreciation for the diversity of religious beliefs, and cultivated a sense of empathy and respect for individuals of different faiths, despite his willingness to challenge others on their theological beliefs. Luke's engagements with various faith communities have fostered a deep appreciation for their value to individuals' lives. Recognising the importance of religious freedom as a fundamental human right, Luke was inspired to delve deeper into the study of religious studies and ideas. This exploration led him to develop a profound respect for individual liberty and autonomy principles, shaping his perspectives on human rights.

Drawing upon his experiences and interactions, Luke seeks to uphold and champion religious freedom's rights, recognising its profound impact on fostering diversity, inclusivity, and respect for all individuals, regardless of their religious beliefs or affiliations. Although a staunch Christian, Luke has endeavoured to uphold others' rights to be who they wish to be. His commitment to promoting these values continues to shape his personal growth and intellectual development journey. Luke has been deeply influenced by the "social gospel" perspectives espoused by Father Bob Maguire, a renowned figure known for his unwavering commitment to serving the poor and marginalised. Year after year, Luke attended Father Bob's Christmas services in South Melbourne with his family, finding inspiration in his profound regard for those who often go unnoticed or neglected by society. Father Bob's emphasis on social justice and compassion resonated deeply with Luke, igniting his passion for addressing systemic inequalities and working towards creating a more inclusive and equitable world.

Drawing from Father Bob's teachings, Luke strives to embody the values of empathy, generosity, and solidarity, using his voice and actions to advocate for those who face adversity and to promote positive change in society. Father Bob's "social gospel" perspectives continue to shape Luke's path, motivating him to stand up for the rights and dignity of all individuals, especially the most vulnerable among us.
